What I Love.....Whimsical Art!

Image
This past month or so, I have been spending almost every waking hour making crafts for a Christmas craft bazaar coming up in November. I've looked at so much red, green, and white....that my eyes were crossing, but, still yet, I wanted to paint! When I started this journey almost 3 years ago of having a blog and sharing my crafts and stories, I had taught myself how to paint.....and painting fun, bright, and whimsical women paintings is what I loved. So, I had been thinking of doing a series of paintings with The Queen.....funny women with crowns and bright clothes and funny sayings. So, I took this weekend, and painted the first:  I just love her.....she is just like me....full figured......loves to dress up......and yes,  I love my Bling! Blessings, Deborah

Upcycled Cabinet Door Snowman!

Image
Happy Saturday Everyone, Yes, yes, I know.....Halloween isn't even here yet, much less Thanksgiving, and I'm talking about snowmen! But, I love Christmas and all the beautiful and neat decorations you can make during the holiday season. I recently went "dumpster diving" with my Mom and sister, and it was so much fun! I found a lot of boards that were just right for all my funny signs that I love making, but, I also found a "treasure trove" of old cabinet doors! I was beyond elated! Did I mention that this particular dumpster was from a cabinet/wood shop? Well, it is, and it was like Christmas morning finding all these goodies! So, I decided that I had to dedicate one of the cabinet doors to a snowman:   Isn't he just a doll! I haven't decided whether I'm going to keep him or sell him at the Christmas church bazaar, but, either way, he would make a great addition to anyone's holiday decorating.....hanging on a porch.....inside by

Homemade Apple Dumpling!

Image
My Mom has always told me that a good cook, could go to her pantry and find something to cook!  Well, last night was one of those nights that I really channeled Mom. I had eaten a really great salad full of arugula and other healthy greens with some great cheeses and nuts! Just delicious! So, while sitting on the couch watching the news before my Wednesday night programs came on, all of a sudden, I had a major swwet attack! I knew there wasn't a pack of "double stuffed Oero's" hidden anywhere in my kitchen.....so, to the pantry I went! I looked and looked.....opened the refridgerator several times.....so, after noticing I had a can of biscuits and I had several fresh apples....I knew an aspple dumpling was in the making. I had no intentions of taking pics, but decided after I started I wanted a few. I cut up and cube one apple in a small sauce pan adding 2 teaspoons of butter. I let butter melt and the apples to stewing....I added some cinnamon and a small spoonfu

Christmas Wine Glass Candle Holders!

Image
I know....it isn't even Halloween yet, and here I am writing about Christmas! The decorations are already in every store you go into...the Dollar Store.....Wal-Mart.....even the groceries stores!  But, I have a huge Christmas Craft Show coming up so, I've been very busy making items to sell at the show. Now, this post isn't for you to buy anything. This is about the cutest and easiest gift or decoration to make during the holiday season. I bought several $1.00 wine glasses from The Dollar Tree. I, also, at that time, purchased several battery operated tea lights to place on the top of each candle holder. Of, course, you could use a regular candle, but, these are so cute, I wouldn't want to have the wax dripping on the holder. I used plain old acrylic paint, since these were not going to be drank from. First, step was to choose design, then I painted the inside of each glass my base color. After that dried, I painted the outside design and let the dry for 24 hours. I

Sneak Peek of Christmas Crafts!

Image
Happy Tuesday everyone.....It is rainy and stormy here in South Georgia, and as we are apt to do during a thunderstorm, loose power which means  internet! I posted some pics today on my Facebook of some crafts I'm making for a Christmas church bazaar in November.....so, here is your sneak peek also: My house literally looks like Christmas erupted inside of it.....lol! More will be revealed! Have a great week everyone! Blessings, Deborah

Quick and Easy Pumpkin Muffins!

Image
Lately, I have been seeing all over the "blogosphere" these delicious two ingredient pumpkin muffins. My neighbor, Ms. Flo, tells me that I'm way behind the times because these have been around forever, but, I still wanted to try them. How hard could they be, right! Just two ingredients! So, I drove down to the Dollar General....yep, Dollar General! I wanted to show that I thought these could be made by anyone on a budget, and they would still be delicious! I purchased a $1.00 store brand box of yellow cake mix. I then found, much to my surprise, that they also had cans of 100% pumpkin for $1.50! Now, yes, if using an inexpensive mix doesn't suit your taste buds, of course, there are all the national name brands, but, I wanted to stress that these could be made on a budget. I grabbed my favorite big red mixing bowl. As easy as could be, I dumped the cake mix and the can of pumpkin together and mixed!  I have to admit, I was very surprised at how it all mixed togethe

Ya'll Know I love My Coffee!

Image
Ok, I can't help it....I love drinking coffee and I love all different types of mugs. So, I thought I would make some more cute mugs to use to serve my friends as we sit outside in the mornings and late in the afternoon enjoying that great brew. I also wanted to come up with some sayings for mugs and the craft show in November.....so, just a few ideas: The nerve pain and fibromyalgia that I suffer from had my hand shaking today, but, that is okay. Just use a Sharpie, write your phrase, place into a cold oven, turn to 300, and when the oven reaches temp, let them stay in for 20 more minutes. Take them out and let cool and set over night, and hand wash, and they are ready to use. Blessings, Deborah

Fabulous Witch Shoes!

Image
There's No Place Like Home! Some of the most famous words ever spoken....and they were spoken by Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz! That famous scene where Glinda the Good Witch tells Dorothy she had always had the power to go home....and "click" go those beautiful ruby red shoes! Then, there have been all types of depictions of witch's shoes......  So, I decided to do one last Halloween sign in tribute to the Witch's Shoe:  I so love dressing up every year on Halloween.....my sisters and I have so much fun with all the fun things we do, and yes, we have fancy shoes. I can't wait to share pictures from this years Halloween celebration....but, I just love Fabulous witch shoes! Blessings, Deborah
