The Great Pumpkin Arrived Charlie Brown!!

Greetings Everyone this day after All Hallow's Eve,

Wow, did we ever have a BLAST last night at our Gobbler Hollow Yard Haunt! We estimate that we had close to 300 children and families stop by! It was so much fun seeing all the children in their costumes and the excitement of seeing all we had: from the amazing  Headless Horseman to the Pumpkin King sitting on his throne to Ula his broken hearted love.....to the cemetery filled with ghouls and finally to 7 foot tall Horace the Happy Harvest Pumpkin! Now, bear in mind that most of our display's were made from paper mache, wood, and by hand! Alot of work goes into our annual Minchew Halloween festival....takes about 2 weeks to set it up, but it is so worth it!

We even made the front page of our local newspaper! This year we did something different and asked those that could to bring a non-perishable food item that we are donating to one of our local food banks. Our parents always taught us to GIVE BACK to our community, and we still try to adhere to those principles and pass it on to our children. We had new features this year one of which  was "Madame Sarita" the "extraordinaire" Fortune Teller! Also, each child had the opportunity to have their pic made with Horace!

I could keep going on, but just want to go ahead and Share some pics:
Waycross Journal Herald

The Wyrd Sisters(my sisters and I..I'm in the middle)

Wyrd Sisters and "Madame Sarita"

Horace, the Happy Harvest Pumpkin( or as we call him, The Great Pumpkin)

And, finally, we made a Facebook page where people who came and took pics can add their own.

So, tomorrow I will start on holidays crafts. Blessings to all,

Deborah

  2. It looks like you were all having so much fun, isn't that what Halloween is about? Awesome from the pic in paper from your party.
One year I dressed up as the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz and other people from where I worked did also as other characters. It was so much fun walking around downtown Grand Junction, CO all day in our costumes. A local weekly paper had our picture in their paper the next week, we were so surprised, didn't even realize we were being photographed. The next Monday we wore our outfits to work so the boss could take photos. We had a late Halloween party so I can imagine how much fun you all had from the great photos. Happy Thanksgiving
